Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Continence Assessment?

A Continence Assessment is a comprehensive assessment to identify a participant's continence needs, including bladder and bowel function, disability-related health conditions, and their ability to manage continence with or without support. It can recommend appropriate aids or therapies, and supports funding requests for continence-related supports under the NDIS.

How can I get Nursing Supports funding in my NDIS plan?

A report can be created to explain why you need specific disability-related health supports. This report will include your NDIS goals, reasonable and necessary criteria, informal/mainstream supports, and recommendations for formal supports, assistive technology, and any required Nursing Support.

Why can't a Nurse create an Epilepsy Management Plan?

According to the 'Our Guideline - Epilepsy Supports,' the NDIS does not fund support for creating an Epilepsy Management Plan (EMP) or an Emergency Medication Management Plan (EMMP). However, there are free epilepsy support organizations available that can assist you with this e.g., Epilepsy Foundation.
